About Moonlight & Magnolias
Producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of Gone With The
Wind because the screenplay and current director are not working. To save his
most precious project (and maybe his, thus far, short career) and create the new
screenplay, he pulls director Victor Fleming off the set of The Wizard of OZ and
calls in script doctor Ben Hecht, who has not read the novel and predicts the
film's certain failure, Locked in Selznick's office for 5 days - sustained
by nothing but peanuts and bananas - the producer and director hilariously act
out each scene, as the reluctant Hecht types.
